In a critical attempt to reach the V-22, the team decided to sprint across exposed terrain, a decision fraught with risks.  This perilous dash under enemy fire resulted in two team members being shot. Fortunately, their body armor provided essential protection, and the injuries sustained were non-life-threatening.

Meanwhile, the V-22 sustained exterior damage, including a hit to one of its self-healing fuel tanks. Fortunately, this did not impair the aircraft’s ability to fly. Under intense pressure, callsign RAPTOR executed a rapid takeoff just as the last team member boarded, narrowly escaping further enemy engagement.

The flight back to JRH was tense, with team members administering first aid to gunshot wounds and reflecting on the intense escape. Upon landing, immediate medical attention was provided, prioritizing Captain Chan and addressing other team member injuries.

An initial After Action Review (AAR) was conducted the following day. The review critiqued the team’s decision-making under fire and the associated risks, particularly the choice to move through an exposed area without suppressive fire or a covered approach.  While the extraction was ultimately successful, it highlighted significant tactical errors.

Despite the challenges, the operation boosted the unit’s morale and reinforced the strategic value of Special Operations Forces, enhancing collaboration with coalition partners.
