Oil Leak (Initial Response) - Outcome

Option 2E: Security Assessment

Your team’s choice to pursue an immediate Security Assessment approach has led to several noteworthy consequences. First, the assessment unveiled critical vulnerabilities that demand immediate attention, exposing a fragile security landscape that requires swift reinforcement.  While the decision aimed at preventing further incidents and addressing root causes, it fell short of addressing the immediate issue.  You were unable to effectively contain and mitigate the spill, and it seems the environmental impact will be severe.

Your two Co-Chairs have taken note of the effort to prioritize security, but they also express their unanimous dissatisfaction with your decision.  While the Co-Chairs often find themselves on different sides of an issue, they are united in communicating that another misstep will result in the team’s immediate termination.

Notwithstanding the initial security assessment, a number of key questions loom large:

  • Who was behind the sabotage and what were their motivations?
  • What will this new security risk mean for your operations?
  • What is the full environmental impact of the spill?

Despite all of these questions, one thing you can be certain of is that Ana Pereira from ABC will be giving you a call very soon…
