Option 3D: Interview with Brazilian Journalist

Your team’s decision to engage in an interview with Lívia Andrade, a Brazilian journalist from Valor Econômico, aimed to build rapport and trust with the local community.

During the interview with Lívia, which was facilitated by Lucas, your company representative discussed the details of the incident, its current impacts, and the actions taken.  While acknowledging the severity of the setback, they also emphasized Amazonia’s commitment to fully addressing the environmental impacts and continuing to support employment in the region.

While there were some minor missteps in the interview, it was largely successful in achieving its objective of building a rapport with the community leveraging Lívia’s credibility, local perspective, and following.  As a result of the interview, the media coverage was generally neutral on the company’s actions, and did not worsen the situation.
