Humanitarian Aid Infiltration

Gathered in the pre-dawn quiet of JRH, your team finalizes its preparations and receives some final words of encouragement from your Mission Commander – Callsign GUARDIAN.  Blending seamlessly with a convoy of international aid workers, your team’s departure under the guise of an emergency relief mission appears to be a masterclass in covert operations.  The exterior of the Cessna 208B aircraft is marked with the insignias of global humanitarian efforts, and has been granted passage through the no-fly zone to the MYITKYINA Airport.

After a short flight, the aircraft lands, and your team disembarks amidst a flurry of aid activity, the chaos of unloading and preparations providing good cover for your operation.  With your equipment concealed in supply crates, you insert yourself in the designated road convoy along with the other humanitarian aid workers.

As the convoy moves through the countryside NORTH towards CHIPWI, your proximity to the front lines becomes palpably clear.  You arrive at a checkpoint manned by a well-armed Tatmadaw detachment and they immediately demand everyone disembark for a more detailed inspection.

This unexpected challenge tests your resolve, their probing questions a minefield that threatens to expose your true purpose.  Quick thinking, coupled with the authentic urgency of the aid mission, defuses the situation, and they allow you to pass.  However, you are uncertain if your cover story worked as you start to rethink the wisdom of this tactical insertion option.

After a few more hours on the road, your convoy stops just SOUTH of CHIPWI where you quickly disembark and move into a position of cover in the woods.  As the convoy rolls on, your team dawns its equipment, conducts a final check, and moves to the designated river point where you start your 50 meter crossing.  The current is much stronger than you had anticipated, but after a few anxious moments, your team safely makes it across.

On the other side, you regroup to start the 4 km trek to the crash site where you hope Captain Chan is waiting… although several hours behind your previous mission planning estimates…
