Call Off Extraction [Mission Failure]

After reassessing the situation and concluding that the extraction was too risky, the decision was made to cancel the planned operation and seek an alternative escape route.  Shocked, callsign RAPTOR hesitantly lifted off into the dark skies.

This left the team without additional support and highly vulnerable as they navigated through hostile territory.  Despite initially evading enemy patrols, their efforts ultimately failed when they were surrounded and captured by the Tatmadaw.

The consequences of this decision were disastrous. The Tatmadaw widely used the team’s capture for propaganda, presenting it as evidence of their strength and resistance against foreign intervention.  After enduring 9 months of intense captivity, the team members were finally released through diplomatic negotiations, but by then, significant damage had been inflicted on the international mission’s reputation.

This mission failure led to severe diplomatic repercussions and triggered a Board of Inquiry within Canadian Special Operations.  The inquiry scrutinized the entire Combat Search & Rescue mission set, focusing particularly on the decision to abort the extraction at the decisive moment. This examination led to a thorough revision of operational protocols and decision-making aimed at preventing similar failures in the future.
